Anja Piel, member of the Executive Board of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), was elected Deputy Chair.
On taking office, Christina Ramb made the following comments: “Shortages of workers and skilled workers are having a negative effect on both businesses and Germany. The Federal Employment Agency is a key player in the recruitment of labour and skilled workers from both Germany and abroad. To be able to complete this important task, it needs to have strong organisational and financial foundations in the future. A constant stream of new tasks from Berlin, some of which are unrelated to social security, is making this process difficult, hugely increasing workloads, and preventing the build-up of important financial reserves for times of crisis. This has to stop.”
Anja Piel adds: “During the crisis years, the BA and all its employees successfully rose to the major challenges on the market for labour and vocational training. We now have to make BA fit for the future. We need to attract customers back to the labour market and to ensure that they have the right qualifications for new challenges. The Qualification Opportunities Act and the Continuing Education Act must also provide opportunities and possibilities to those who previously had little access. The prerequisite for our success is the motivated staff team at the BA. At a time of demographic change, retaining skilled workers and supporting young talents is doubly important.”
The Administrative Board is the supervisory and advisory committee for the self-administration of the BA at the central level.
