Training Allowance for Disabled Persons (Berufsausbildungsbeihilfe für behinderte Menschen)

Disabled persons are entitled to vocational training assistance when participating in general vocational training measures. Your guidance counsellor can tell you if you are entitled to vocational training assistance (BAB) or training allowance (Ausbildungsgeld) during vocational training, the participation in a work preparation scheme, basic training or other measures leading to the participation in working life. Please inform yourself in time at the Employment Agency.

Entitlement requirements - vocational training allowance

The detailed entitlement requirements for vocational training allowance can be obtained from "Vocational Training allowance".

The following specifics apply to vocational training allowance for disabled persons:

  • Also vocational training completed within the framework of the Vocational Training Act (Berufsbildungsgesetz) or the Crafts Regulation Act (Handwerksordnung) but which deviates from the training regulations for officially recognised trades or is a special form for disabled persons may be supported.
  • An extension of the vocational training period beyond the planned end, a repetition of the vocational training in part or as a whole as well as a renewed vocational training is supported if type and severity of the disability make it necessary and if a permanent participation in working life cannot be achieved without support.
  • Entitlement to vocational training assistance also exists if the disabled person lives with both parents or one parent.

Amount of vocational training allowance for disabled persons

Vocational training allowance for disabled persons is calculated as for non-disabled persons.

Vocational training allowance for disabled persons is calculated as described in "Vocational Training Allowance".

A special requirement exists here, since - as a distinctive feature compared to "general vocational training allowance" - also accommodation with both parents or one parent does not exclude the entitlement to vocational training allowance.

In these cases the general requirement is 388 €.

If you are married, in a partnership or are more than 20 years of age, the general requirement is 425 €.
